In North Texas, something is almost always active, but each pest still has its season. Knowing when Burleson's pests peak lets you stay a step ahead instead of reacting after they are already inside. Here is the calendar, season by season.

Spring (March to May)

Spring wakes everything up. Subterranean termites swarm on warm, humid days after rain, and finding discarded wings by your windows is a red flag, so spring is the best time for a termite inspection. Fire ants rebuild their mounds, ants start trailing indoors, and mosquitoes begin breeding as the rains come. It is the season to get ahead of the year.

Summer (June to August)

Peak season for most pests. Fire ants are at full strength across every lawn, mosquitoes swarm after each storm, roaches thrive in the heat, and scorpions and spiders are most active at night. This is when recurring service earns its keep, holding the barrier through the worst of it.

Fall (September to November)

As nights cool, rodents start looking for a way indoors, so roof rats and mice pick up. Crickets and spiders push inside too, and wasps get more aggressive as their nests peak before winter. Sealing entry points now pays off all season.

Winter (December to February)

North Texas' mild winters never fully shut pests down. Rodents are most likely to be indoors, roaches keep going in warm kitchens and drains, and termites stay active underground. Winter is a good time to seal gaps and stay on a plan rather than assume the bugs are gone.

The North Texas wildcard: the weather

Our wet-then-dry swings crack the clay soil open and drive pests indoors, and any big rain resets the mosquito clock with fresh standing water. After a storm or a long dry spell is a smart time for a follow-up. For local, science-based pest information, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is an excellent resource.
